Alori vs Housecall Pro: Which Fits a Service Company

Alori vs Housecall Pro compared: home service software with booking and payments versus an app you shape, and when each one is the better pick.

Housecall Pro is field service software for home service businesses. You subscribe, and you get scheduling, quotes, invoices, online booking, payments, and review tools, with more dispatch and accounting features on higher plans. Alori is the all-in-one app for service businesses, starting with HVAC. You describe the business, and Alori assembles customers, quotes, scheduling, jobs and invoices into an app that uses your words. Which one fits depends on the features you need today and how closely your shop matches a standard home-service setup.

If you are also weighing Jobber, read Alori vs Jobber. The category choice is in field service software vs building your own.

The short version

  • Pick Housecall Pro if you want online booking, card payments, review requests, and a Spanish-language app, and the product's flow already matches the crew.
  • Pick Alori if you want the app to follow how your shop already works, in English or French, and the core you need is customers, quotes, scheduling, jobs and invoices.

Different starting points

Housecall Pro starts as a finished platform. Its pricing page asks for your industry, team size, and goals, then recommends a plan. The product is aimed at HVAC, plumbing, electrical, cleaning, landscaping, and similar trades, from a solo operator to a growing crew. You adopt its scheduling, price book, and customer messages.

Alori starts from a description. The modules are the same kind of work (customers, quotes, a schedule, jobs, invoices), but the fields and the words come from you. You change them by asking, and each change is tried on a copy before you publish.

What Housecall Pro includes that Alori does not

As of October 2026, Housecall Pro's pricing page lists, on the plan cards:

  • Basic: online booking, invoices and payments, scheduling and dispatch, quotes, review management, a price book, and job costing. The Basic card shown there is $59/mo billed annually for 1 user.
  • Essentials: routes, flat-rate pricing, checklist automations, photo reports, employee GPS from the phone, commissions, and QuickBooks Online sync. The card includes 5 users.
  • MAX: a sales proposal tool, recurring service plans, route optimization, open API access, and a dedicated onboarding specialist. The card includes 8 users, with additional users at $35/mo.

The same page lists card processing from 2.59% and bank payments at 1%. A 14-day trial of MAX features does not require a credit card. Their FAQ says they do not require a long-term contract. Add-ons such as CSR AI, payroll, and websites are listed separately, so the plan price is not always the whole bill.

The page also says the app is available in English and Spanish. Alori's built-in languages are English and French. If the crew needs Spanish in the product, Housecall Pro is the one that publishes that.

Alori's default modules do not include online booking, card payments, review requests, GPS, or route optimization. You can email quotes and invoices (0.01 credits per recipient, from mail4.alori.dev, replies to your account email), text customers from a local number, and sync customers and invoices with QuickBooks. Keep Housecall Pro, or another tool, for payments and booking until you are ready to change that part of the business.

What it costs

Housecall Pro's public page is a quiz. The headline is plans from $59/mo, and the Basic card above is the number that page showed for one user on annual billing in October 2026. Industry and team size change the recommendation, so treat $59 as the published floor, not a quote for every trade. Confirm the card you are shown.

Alori does not charge per user. The pricing page is free to start (10 credits, no card). Every plan includes unlimited users. Solo starts at $99 a month for 375 credits. Business starts at $249 a month for 1,000 credits. Prices are in US dollars.

How you set Alori up

  1. Describe the business in a sentence, or paste its website.
  2. Answer a couple of multiple-choice questions if something is unclear.
  3. Get the modules you need, at the office and on a phone.
  4. Change anything by asking in a sentence. The change lands on a copy first. Publish when the team is ready, or go back to an earlier version.

Apps go live at name.alori.dev, or on your own domain (a custom domain is listed on Solo). Hosting, database, sign-in and SSL are handled. See how Alori builds your app.

When Housecall Pro is the better pick

  • Customers book and pay online today, or you want review requests sent from the same product.
  • You want Spanish in the app, or a price book and GPS as product features.
  • The crew already matches a standard home-service day: schedule, dispatch, invoice, get paid.
  • You want a 14-day trial of a mature product used by a large base of pros, and you are fine learning its screens.
  • You do not want to decide how a quote or a job should look.

When Alori is the better pick

  • The software's stages are not your stages. Extra spreadsheets are the signal.
  • You want English or French, and your own terms on the screens.
  • You need customers, quotes, scheduling, jobs and invoices, and payments or booking can stay in a tool you already trust.
  • The bill is driven by seats and add-ons, and you would rather have unlimited users and ask for a field than upgrade for it.
  • You build for several shops. One Alori account holds many projects, each with its own data and team. See how to sell custom software to local businesses.

Questions to ask before you choose

QuestionIf the answer is yes
Do customers need to book and pay by card in this product?Housecall Pro lists both. Alori does not, yet.
Does the crew need the app in Spanish?Housecall Pro publishes Spanish. Alori is English and French.
Do we need the app in French, in our own words?Alori is built for that.
Do we depend on technician GPS, or on a QuickBooks sync beyond customers and invoices?GPS is on Housecall Pro's higher cards, and its QuickBooks Online sync is on Essentials. Confirm before you leave.
Are we working around the product every week?Try an app shaped around the shop, beside the old one.

Do not cancel on day one. Build the first version, run it next to Housecall Pro, and switch one workflow at a time. Before you cancel a subscription is the checklist.

Frequently asked questions

Is Alori a Housecall Pro alternative?

For customers, quotes, scheduling, jobs and invoices, it can stand in for that part of the stack. It is not a Housecall Pro clone. Online booking, card payments, review requests, and GPS are part of Housecall Pro's product and are not default Alori modules.

Does Housecall Pro publish its prices?

Yes, with a catch. As of October 2026, the pricing page leads with plans from $59/mo and shows Basic at $59/mo billed annually for one user. Essentials includes 5 users and MAX includes 8, with extra MAX users at $35/mo on the card we read. The page asks for your industry and team size first, so your quote can differ. Read the card it shows you.

Can Alori take card payments or text customers?

Texts yes, card payments no. Alori texts customers in both directions from a local number, and sends appointment confirmations, “On my way” texts and reminders on its own. It does not take card payments. Housecall Pro's pricing page lists invoices and payments, including paying online. Keep Housecall Pro, or another tool, for card payments.

Which is better for a small crew?

If the crew wants booking, payments, and reviews in one rented product, Housecall Pro is the direct fit, including for a solo operator on Basic. If the crew wants the screens to match an unusual quote or job flow, and can take payment another way, Alori is the better fit. Unlimited users matter more as you add office staff who only need to look at the schedule.
