Fathom alternatives: when your notes should live with your customers

Short answer: Fathom is a popular AI notetaker with a generous free plan. If you want a note taker on your Zoom, Meet or Teams calls, it is a good tool. Among Fathom alternatives, Alori takes a different path: it is the all-in-one app for service businesses, and its Meetings app records your video meetings and business calls, then files the summary and next steps on the customer, beside their deals, jobs and invoices.

Who Fathom fits well

Fathom suits people who spend their day on video calls in the tools they already use. It records the meeting, writes a summary right after, and lets you search past calls and share clips. Sales and customer teams that already run a separate CRM often connect it there.

As of October 2026, Fathom's pricing page lists a Free plan for individuals with unlimited recordings and transcriptions, Premium at $16 per user per month billed annually ($20 monthly), Team at $15 per user per month billed annually ($19 monthly, 2-user minimum), Business at $25 per user per month billed annually ($34 monthly), and Enterprise through sales.

Why owners look for a Fathom alternative

A note taker solves the writing. It does not solve what comes after, which for a small service business is most of the work:

  • The notes still need a home. If your customer records live in a spreadsheet or a field service tool, someone copies the summary over.
  • Calls happen on the phone, not only on video. Many customers call the business number. A video notetaker does not see those calls.
  • Next steps need owners. "Send the revised quote Friday" has to become a task with a name on it.
  • One more subscription. Another tool, another login, another bill as the team grows.

What Alori replaces, and what it does not

What Alori does today:

  • Records Alori video meetings. Create a meeting from the Schedule, keep Record on, and send the link. Guests join in their browser, with no account, and agree to the recording before they join. See the Meetings app.
  • Writes the notes. When the meeting ends, Alori writes the transcript and a summary with next steps. Click Create the task beside a step. The person who made the meeting gets the summary by email, with the transcript.
  • Answers questions. Under Ask about this meeting, ask "What are the next steps?" or "Write a follow-up email".
  • Covers phone calls. With Record calls on, calls on your business number come with a recording, transcript and summary on the customer. See calls.
  • Imports what you recorded elsewhere. Upload a recording (.mp4, .m4a) or a transcript (.vtt, .srt, .txt, .docx) from Zoom, Teams or Meet, up to 4 hours long. Alori writes the same notes.
  • Puts it all with the customer. The meeting sits beside the customer's deals, quotes, jobs and messages. See customers.

What Alori does not do:

  • It does not send a bot into Zoom, Meet or Teams calls. Import those after the call instead.
  • It does not make shareable video clips or playlists.
  • If you only want free notes on calls in your current video tool, Fathom's free plan is hard to beat.

How to switch

  1. Build your app. Describe your business. Alori sets up customers, the schedule and Meetings.
  2. Bring your customers. Paste a list into Ask Alori, or use the guided HubSpot move if your CRM is HubSpot.
  3. Import key calls. Export the recordings or transcripts you want to keep and import them in Meetings, linked to each customer.
  4. Run new meetings in Alori. Send Alori video links for calls with customers so the notes land in the right place by themselves.

FAQ

Is Alori a good Fathom alternative? Yes, if you run a service business and want call notes on the customer, with next steps as tasks, inside the same app as your schedule, quotes and invoices. If you need a free note taker inside Zoom, Meet or Teams, Fathom is the better fit.

Can Alori join my Google Meet calls? No. Alori records its own video meetings and calls on your business number. For a Meet, Zoom or Teams call, import the recording or the transcript after the call.

Is the summary emailed to me? Yes. Whoever made the meeting gets the summary by email once the notes are ready, with the transcript attached.

What does it cost? Recording and notes use credits from your Alori balance. See pricing. There is a free plan, no card needed.
