Alori vs Odoo for Consulting Firms: Suite or Client App

Alori vs Odoo for consulting and IT firms: per-user suite pricing or unlimited users, an implementation or a ready app, and when each one fits.

5 min read
A consultant reviews client documents at a desk beside a laptop.

Odoo is a business suite. One subscription opens apps for CRM, projects, timesheets, helpdesk, accounting and many more, priced per user. Alori is the all-in-one app for service businesses. You describe your firm in plain words, and Alori builds an app for clients, meetings, proposals, projects and invoices, with unlimited users.

For a consulting firm, the choice comes down to two questions. Do you want your books and your client work in the same system? And who will set it up?

The short version

  • Pick Odoo if you want accounting, timesheets and projects in one database, you bill mostly by the hour, and you have the time or a partner to configure it.
  • Pick Alori if your firm lives on client relationships, meetings and proposals, you sell projects and retainers, you keep accounting in QuickBooks, and you want it running this week without an implementation project.

What Odoo does that Alori does not

Be straight about the gap.

  • Accounting. Odoo includes a full general ledger. Alori creates invoices, but it is not accounting software. Keep QuickBooks or your accountant's tool.
  • Timesheets tied to accounting. Odoo's Timesheets app feeds hourly billing. If your firm bills mostly by the hour, test this first.
  • HR, expenses and planning. Odoo covers expenses, time off, appraisals and resource planning in the same suite.
  • Multi-company, an external API and self-hosting. Odoo lists these on its Custom plan.

Where Alori fits a consulting firm better

  • The client is the center. Gmail, calls, texts, meetings and website chat land on one client file. Anyone on the team can pick up a client.
  • Meetings are part of the app. Meet by link, with no account for your client. The call is recorded and summarized, and next steps become tasks.
  • Unlimited users. Odoo's pricing page counts an employee who reports their expenses or timesheet as a paying user, so every consultant adds to the bill. On Alori, adding a consultant costs nothing.
  • No implementation project. Describe the firm and get the app. Change a screen by asking.
  • English and French, in your words. Clients, mandates, retainers: the app uses the terms your firm uses.

What it costs

As of October 2026, Odoo's pricing page lists Standard at US$31.10 per user per month on yearly billing (US$24.90 introductory for 12 months) and Custom at US$61.10 (US$49 introductory). Implementation, Odoo.sh hosting, SMS credits and custom code maintenance are not included.

Alori is free to start, Solo starts at $99 a month and Business at $249 a month, with unlimited users on every plan. See pricing.

124,4788,7981,1882,988
259,33018,3301,1882,988

The models differ. Odoo charges per user for a whole suite. Alori charges for changes to one app, in credits, and a busy month of changes may need more credits. Check both pages for your region before you budget.

For integrators and IT firms

Many Odoo and Zoho partners are consulting firms themselves. They sell the implementation, then the support. That business fits clients who need accounting, inventory and HR in one place.

Alori gives the same firms a second offer for clients a full suite would overwhelm: a service business that needs clients, quotes, jobs and invoices, live in a week. One Alori account holds many client projects, each with its own data and team. See recurring revenue for agencies.
